In Generation Format

Note, starting with this release, we count Generation 1 as starting with Peter Gideon (1752-1844), rather than the debatable Peter Heinrich Gideon, believed to be his father.    We also have started over showing only those ancestors and siblings in the direct line from Peter (1752-1844) through to Peter Daniel (1970s - living). It has also been expanded to include all the descendants of Ansel Peter Gideon, son of Peter Miller Gideon. From a very reliable source dating from the 1930's, we were told that four brothers named Gideon, left Germany for England and then to Ireland, and then to the United States in the mid 1700's. This could explain the three major Gideon branches that were never really linked before. Isham Gideon is known to have come from Ireland. From these bits and pieces we might be able to establish the connection we have all been looking for.

A Roman Numeral in front of a name indicates the order of birth. A number in front of the name indicates that person will have a family listing in the next following generation. That generation will be noted with the same digit in red. When there is only a Roman Numeral there is no further family descendant information for that person. These numbers are a carryover from the super long list that was first made. That is why there are large gaps.

1. PETER¹ GIDEON was born March 22, 1751/52 in believed to be aboard ship. According to records of the D.A.R., in Pennsylvania, he died February 5, 1844 in Hillsboro, Loudon, Virginia, and is buried in Old Potts Cemetery. (See views of the Old Potts Cemetery) He married MARY CATHERINE ERNST 1790 in Loudin City, Virginia. She was born January 12, 1742/43 in Bavaria, and died August 13, 1836 in Hillsboro, Loudon, Virginia, and is also buried in Old Potts Cemetary.
