Vietnam, Old U.S. Embassy, Saigon

(AKA Ho Chi Minh City)

Entrance gate to the area where the Embassy once stood.

Looking over the wall to where you would have seen the Embassy building. Note the newer walls.

The U.S. Embassy before the start of demolition. The platform on the top was for the helicopters. The small bulding on the far left was for the Marine detachment. The hectic withdrawal of forces and people took place here at the end of the war on 30 April 1975. Up to the time of demolition it was used as an office building that contained also the Vietnam State Petroleum Authority.

The left side and rear of the embassy at the back gate.

Photo taken a week after demolition started on June 15, 1998.
