The Sequence For Making Pottery in Vietnam

We make our usual stop, this time at a pottery factory, on the way back to Hanoi from Halong Bay

After the clay is mixed the pottery is formed and shaped on the wheel. Note the motor driven shaft that serves all the wheels.

Detail work, hand finishing, holes, final corrections before firing.

here is the kiln with coal that is used for the firing.

Outside room where the first cured items are ready for painting.

Showing the workers actually hand painting all the intricate details on the pottery.

Note the ages of the workers. None seemed to be older than 14 or 15.

Large area for parking near the actual sales room.

Here the very large air conditioned sales room.
